In her own words

Why this company exists.

Eden Mengistu brings a background in monitoring, evaluation, research and learning to the way Zoebar approaches coffee and international trade. After years working in learning- and evidence-focused organizations, she entered the coffee business with a strong belief that commercial success should be built on knowledge, relationships, transparency and continuous improvement.

Through Zoebar, Eden is building a business that stays close to origin: learning directly from producers, understanding how coffee is grown and processed, and developing transparent relationships with international buyers.

This learning mindset shapes Zoebar's approach: verify before claiming, understand before selling, and keep improving from one season to the next.

Always learning. Always improving.

The approach

What the learning mindset means in practice.

Three commitments, and each one is visible in how this site is built rather than only in how it is described.

01Verify before claiming
A specification is published once it is confirmed. Figures that belong to a lot are confirmed on that lot, and nothing on this site is filled with an estimate to make a page look complete.
02Understand before selling
Knowing how the coffee was grown, picked, processed and dried before it is offered. That is why processing sits at a washing station Zoebar owns directly rather than at arm's length.
03Keep improving, season to season
A harvest is a year of evidence. What it shows about picking, fermentation, drying and sorting is carried into the next one rather than repeated.
